ah, i learned a new word today. it originated from german. i found this word interesting firstly because of its seemingly alien spelling, and secondly, its equivalence in Chinese: 把快樂建立在別人的痛苦上. yeah, human are a scary bunch. really. scary.
but then again, the problem seems to lie within the definition of "being human". and i was glad to find the following listed under the definition of "human" in Oxford dictionary:
showing the better qualities of humankind, such as kindness
it is beyond depressing to see inhuman acts happening all around.
anyway, i started on a book recommended by a tutor, Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed. it will be a nice read, i am sure.
